Rules of Netiquette *assignment*

Hello again

Below are a list of rules regarding  netiquette .

Netiquette is how we behave appropriately on the internet. ( Etiquette and network combined)

We use netiquette because communication online can sometimes be misunderstood, netiquette helps us understand and respect each other easily whilst on the internet.

  2. Do not call other by rude names or abuse them over the internet, do not threaten people if they have vexed you. Be smart and mature in regard to how you talk to people that you dislike.

  9. Remember that there’s a real person on the other end, so be careful about what you’re saying and think about how it’ll affect the other person, and remember that whatever you say on the internet will stay on the internet.

  10. Be careful with your choice of words, different people can convey and interpret the same words differently than you might, try to use emojis appropriately, this enables you to express what you actually mean and makes misunderstanding a lot easier to avoid. Avoid sarcasm, people that don’t know you may read what you wrote differently then how you intended.

Game On Review

Intro

Game on is a short episode running for 20 minutes. Its purpose is to inform kids on cyber safety and issues and problems such as password theft, identity theft and fraud, social media, addiction to computers, and how internet overuse affects people in the real world.

Summary

The show begins with two girls talking to each other, one is saying that the other posted mean photos of her on the other girl’s account, the other girl says she didn’t do it. Two other boys are playing video games through the night and sleeping in school. Another boy is getting ‘free’ ringtones off a website that claims it doesn’t charge anything. Another boy is taking selfies and sending them to people he doesn’t know. All these problems have to do with cyber safety, internet awareness, and lack of education in relation to being wise on the internet.

Positives

Positives of Game On include:

  • Displays cyber safety issues in a possible real life situation
  • Educates kids and viewers of cyber safety
  • Shows viewers that it is necessary  to keep your passwords, personal details and selfies to yourself
  • Educates viewers to be smart on the internet and social medias
  • Tells viewers to use common sense whilst on the internet, social medias, online games and any smart device
  • Educates viewers to be aware of stranger danger, if you don’t know them don’t talk to them or share your details with them
  • Shows viewers that awareness of fraud is important
  • Tells viewers that if it’s too good to be true then it is
  • Educates viewers of device and internet overuse and its effects

Negatives

Negatives of Game On includes:

  • The acting wasn’t great so it was hard to relate to each character
  • There wasn’t any cases of cyber bullying which is one of the most common issues regarding the internet
  • Story line was predictable
  • There was no humour

Wrap up

Overall, I believe that Game On is mainly education rather than entertainment. It educates its viewers on the cyber safety, device overuse, detail privacy, and to be wise and use common sense whilst on the internet. It has poor acting but its main purpose is to educate and in my opinion it has achieved that. My rating for Game On is 2.5 stars out of 5 because it has poor acting and story line but it is educational, and that’s its main purpose.

Thanks
